Culinary Forays: Beef Congee

This morning I tried a local breakfast favorite -- beef congee.
Thick gooey oatmeal-like rice paste with pieces of sliced beef.
Many toppings could be added. It was quite good.

  1. Dr. Jaffee,
This is unbelivable you ordered the beef congee. Next time, when you are going to the Dai Pai Dong to have the Hong Kong style breakfast, I will recommend you to have ground beef congee, so far I never have the same taste in the United States even in New York China Town. Another delicious dish should come with that is Cheung Fun (Rolled Rice Stickers) and pour with oil, seasame, soy sauce, peanut oil, sweet sauce, or hot sauce if you like spicy. It is so yummy! Another one will be sweet rice dumpling but you dont' have big tummy, then wait for Marianne coming to share with you. Take at least one time to order egg sandwich from Dai Pai Dong because it is totally different from America's style. Enjoy! Cindy
