The Digs
I am fortunate to have my housing provided by the City University of Hong Kong. They have a housing facility for visiting faculty and have provided me with a two bedroom apartment. Other Fulbrights have had to locate and secure their own housing. Finding adequate accommodations, particularly for those bringing family members, is no small task given the scarcity of land on which to build (in what is the most densely populated city in the world), the very high housing costs, and the restricted dwelling size. One reason Hong Kong is known for its skyline and skyscrapers is because there is only one way to build -- up. It is the "vertical city" prototype.
