Macau is the other Special Administrative Region in China that was a former Portuguese colony and is now known as the "Las Vegas of the East". It is a one hour ferry ride on the high-speed jetfoil/catamaran.

They run the ferry service like an airline.

The spectacle that is the Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino.

There are some nice spots in Macau away from the casino district and maddening crowds.
Does running it like an airline mean you wait for hours to go through security, sit in a tiny seat, and then get delayed leaving AND arriving?
ReplyDeleteNot quite. Some things are done here very efficiently. Moving people is one of them.
ReplyDeleteAnything done inefficiently and unexpectedly so?
ReplyDeleteInefficiently? Yes. Trying to use the campus exercise facilities requires taking a class (some are given in Cantonese), applying for a special ID card, and booking the times when you expect to show up at the gym.
ReplyDeleteUsing a tennis court is also a highly inefficient and bureaucratic affair. Those who oversee these activities also adopt the role of the officious and rigid bureaucrat.
Trying to get exercise here can be exhausting.
